GATE MATERIAL + MOTOR CALCULATOR
Swing leaf or sliding gate — pick the mode, enter opening width, height and frame profile, choose the infill, and get frame weight, infill mass, diagonal brace length, total tonnage and motor class side by side. Hinge load and sliding pocket length are computed too.
Inputs
Formula
L_frame = 2 · (W + H) + n_brace · √(W² + H²) W_frame = L_frame · ρ_profile (kg/m) W_infill = W · H · ρ_infill (kg/m²) W_total = W_frame + W_infill ρ_sht = 0.0157 · t · (A – t) (kg/m) [square hollow]
ρ_profile: mass per metre of the chosen hollow section. ρ_infill: mass per m² of the infill. Square tube formula assumes steel density 7850 kg/m³: ρ = (ρ_steel × 4·(A–t)·t) / 10⁶. Corner welds and hinge seats add ~3 % — the total includes that margin.

Square Hollow Section — Mass per Metre
Square hollow sections stocked at Konak Tel Çit. 2 mm is the standard wall; 2.5 – 3 mm is recommended for heavy gates.

Motor Class Guide
Motor classes common in gate automation. Figures are manufacturer nominals; keep a 20 % safety margin on site.
| Type | Max. gate mass | Max. width | Note |
|---|---|---|---|
| Swing double-leaf | 300 kg/leaf | 2.0 m/leaf | Piston-type, 24 V — residential class. |
| Swing double-leaf | 500 kg/leaf | 3.0 m/leaf | Articulated, heavy-use class. |
| Sliding (rail) | 400 kg | 6.0 m | C4/400 class, 24 V residential. |
| Sliding (rail) | 800 kg | 10.0 m | Industrial, 230 V single-phase. |
| Sliding (rail) | 1500 kg | 14.0 m | Factory/warehouse entrance, gearbox drive. |
Diagonal Brace
Swing leaves over 3 m need a diagonal stiffener on the hinge side to stop sagging. Over 4 m, an X-brace is recommended; it adds ~15 % to frame mass but reduces sag by up to 80 % in the field.
Hinge Load
Load per hinge is total leaf mass divided by hinge count. Choose hinges rated for at least 2× that load. On leaves over 3 m, adjustable Ø20 mm hinge bodies with a ball-bearing pin are mandatory.
Motor Selection
The recommended class covers the computed total mass + 20 % site margin. In wind-exposed sites (coast, open farmland) move one class up. Sliding gates need a pocket (rail) length equal to 1.5× the opening — otherwise the gate cannot open fully.
