Double Panel Mesh. The Weight of Stone, the Strength of Galvanised Steel.
01ENGINEERING

Double Panel Mesh. The Weight of Stone, the Strength of Galvanised Steel.

The double panel mesh produced from Ø6–8 mm wire maintains its dimensional stability against high stone loading. Hot-dip galvanised coating (EN ISO 1461) provides 50+ years of corrosion resistance. Connecting wires lock both panels together, giving the basket three-dimensional rigidity.

  • Double Panel — twin-face welded wire mesh basket
  • Wire Ø6×5×6 mm or Ø8×6×8 mm
  • Hot-Dip Galvanised — 70–85 μm, 50+ years
  • 40×120×3 mm hollow section post — same galvanised coating

Reliable Support for Roadsides and Sloping Ground
02İSTİNAT

Reliable Support for Roadsides and Sloping Ground

The combination of high stone mass and water permeability makes the gabion wall the preferred solution for retaining applications. It drains water while resisting ground pressure with its self-weight; its flexibility accommodates seismic activity and settlement on sloping terrain where rigid structures would crack.

  • Water-permeable structure — no hydrostatic pressure build-up
  • Flexible system — accommodates ground movement
  • No foundation required — fast installation
  • 1030–2030 mm height options

Natural Aesthetics That Blend with the Landscape Through Local Stone

Baskets filled with granite, basalt, or limestone blend with the surrounding environment. Over time, moss and vegetation establish themselves on the basket face, turning the wall into a completely natural feature. The preferred visual language for residential, park, and urban landscaping projects.

  • Infinite colour and texture with local stone selection
  • Naturally greens over time with moss and plants
  • Garden, terrace, park, and urban landscaping
  • Timber/concrete coping stone option for the top

Detailed Description

What Is a Gabion Wall?

A gabion wall is a gravity wall system formed by filling galvanised steel mesh baskets with stone, gravel, or crushed rock. The word "gabion" derives from the Italian "gabbione" (large cage). Originating in ancient Roman engineering and combined with modern galvanised wire technology, this system has become one of the most reliable solutions for landscape, retaining, and boundary wall applications.

Technical Structure

The core of the system is a double panel (twin-face welded mesh) basket. Intermediate connecting wires placed between the two parallel panels give the basket dimensional rigidity. The mass of stone fill inside the basket provides the wall's dead weight and transfers it to the ground.

  • Panel: Double Panel — twin-face welded wire mesh basket
  • Wire Diameter: Ø6×5×6 mm or Ø8×6×8 mm
  • Coating: Hot-Dip Galvanised (EN ISO 1461) — 70–85 μm zinc layer
  • Height: 1030 / 1230 / 1430 / 1630 / 1830 / 2030 mm
  • Post: 40×120×3 mm hollow section steel, hot-dip galvanised

Advantages of Gabion Walls

  • No Foundation Required: The flexible structure accommodates ground movement; a rigid concrete foundation is not necessary.
  • Water Permeable: Voids between the stone fill filter water; hydrostatic pressure does not build up and drainage functions freely.
  • Natural Aesthetics: Baskets filled with local stone blend with the surrounding landscape; over time moss and vegetation give the wall an even more natural appearance.
  • Long Service Life: Hot-dip galvanised coating provides 50+ years of corrosion resistance.
  • Fast Installation: Standard modules are assembled in situ; no concreting or curing is required.
  • Environmentally Friendly: Fill material can be sourced locally, minimising transport load and carbon footprint.

Applications

  • Retaining walls on roadsides and mountainous terrain
  • Ground erosion control and slope stabilisation
  • Garden, villa, and housing estate boundary walls
  • Landscape terracing and level-change management
  • Park and recreation area landscaping features
  • Noise barriers and visual screens

Selecting Fill Stone

Gabion baskets can be filled with various stone types including granite, basalt, limestone, or river cobble. Stone size must be larger than the mesh aperture (typically 100–200 mm). The choice of colour, texture, and size defines the aesthetic character of the wall. Fill stone is not supplied by Konak Tel Çit; it is sourced from local quarries or suppliers by the project owner.

Frequently Asked Questions

6 soru · teknik, montaj ve sipariş bilgileri

No. Standard gabion walls do not require a rigid concrete foundation. A level bed of stone or gravel sub-fill is sufficient. The flexible structure accommodates ground settlement and minor movement. A geotechnical survey is recommended for walls carrying high retaining loads.
No. Fill stone (granite, basalt, limestone, gravel) is sourced by the project owner from a local quarry or supplier. Stone size must be larger than the mesh aperture (typically 100–200 mm). If you share the stone type and size available in your region, we will provide technical guidance on suitability.
The 70–85 μm zinc layer applied to EN ISO 1461 provides corrosion resistance exceeding 50 years in normal outdoor conditions. Additional protective coating may be recommended for coastal or chemical environments.
1030–1430 mm is sufficient for garden boundary walls and decorative terracing. 1630–2030 mm is recommended for retaining walls and level-change management. Heights above 2030 mm may require a specialist engineering calculation; please share the site conditions and load values.
Yes. A timber, metal, or concrete coping stone can be placed on top of the gabion wall to create a seating bench or terrace boundary feature. This application is particularly common in residential and park projects.
When fill material is sourced from local stone, transport-related carbon footprint is minimised. The permeable structure reduces soil erosion and manages surface water run-off. Over time, moss and small plants grow through the basket, fully integrating the wall into its surroundings.
