CHAIN-LINK MESH M² WEIGHT CALCULATOR

Enter the mesh openings (m1, m2) and wire diameter (d) to get the weight per square metre of woven chain-link mesh. For PVC-coated wire, also enter the outer diameter (D). The result is an average value in grams per m².

Inputs

Wire type
mm

One side of the opening; typically 40 – 100 mm

mm

Other side of the opening; same as m1 for square mesh

mm

Steel wire diameter; typically 2.0 – 4.0 mm

Formula

m = 12,940 × d² / ((m1 + m2) / 2) (g/m²)

m1, m2: mesh openings (mm), d: wire diameter (mm), D: outer diameter incl. PVC (mm). These are industry-standard average coefficients; ±5 % deviation is normal depending on weave tightness.

Standard Mesh Types

The hot-dip galvanised chain-link types most frequently produced by Konak Tel Çit, given as mesh opening × wire diameter. Production tolerance ±5 %.

Mesh type (opening × wire, mm)Weight per m² (g)
50 × 50 / 2.51,617
50 × 50 / 3.02,329
55 × 55 / 2.51,470
60 × 60 / 2.51,348
60 × 60 / 3.01,941
70 × 70 / 2.81,449
80 × 80 / 3.01,456
80 × 80 / 3.51,981
100 × 100 / 3.01,165

Production tolerance

Per TS EN 10223-2, tolerance on the mesh opening is ±5 % and on wire diameter ±0.06 mm. A 3 % waste allowance is typical when sizing site orders. Roll heights are typically 1.0 – 2.0 m.

Coating options

Konak Tel Çit chain-link is produced with electro-galvanised (Class A, 40–120 g/m²) or hot-dip galvanised (Class B, 200–245 g/m²) coating. Green PVC (RAL 6005) over-coating is also available for extended field life.
